Paragliding

The spectacular Chamonix region is the "mecca" of mountain flying. Big thermals, eagles, glaciers and high peaks make the Chamonix valley one of the best flying areas in the world. Harnessed to an instructor, paragliding offers a bird's eye view of the mountains and valleys

Cool nights and hot days create large temperature gradients resulting in powerful thermals and strong valley winds. Good flying starts in March and the season ends in October.

Strange as it may seem, paragliding or paraponting as the French call it, is not as big of an adrenaline rush as it looks. As you strap your self to another person and hurtle off the side of a perfectly good mountain your heart is beating a bit faster than usual. However, the thing that gets you is how peaceful it is.
