Bursting with bike trails the Chamonix valley is seventh heaven for those who enjoy travel on two wheels. For those not born in France (once you visit the place) you will understand why the Tour de France is the THE premier bicycle event in the world. Even though we love riding the French take it to another level. It is a bit like taking your dog to a restaurant, it is a French thing that the rest of us don't quite get.
We will happily arrange touring, cross country or downhill bikes to suit your agenda. We use the leading suppliers in the valley and will be happy to assist you plan the ideal itinerary.
Fully equipped and with or without guides, this is an activity that is easily integrated into your stay.
Cross country biking
For those interested in a relaxing ride with a few challenges it is the perfect place to ride. Mainly because most destinations have an easy and a hard path to choose from. Plus the best bit, it can all be down hill. Yes, I do not lie, out the chalet door and follow the valley down and then you and your bike can catch the train home. Or ride to the train station in the morning and catch the train up the valley and then ride back. All down hill, it is as good as it sounds.
Downhill biking
Those seeking a challenge with steep angles in mind this is the place of your dreams. Literally the sky is your limit. The ski lifts will take you as high as you want all day every day.
There has been vigorous building of downhill trails in the past years in Valorcine, Les Houches and this year in Les Bosson. Along with the regular technical trails on Grands Montets, Le Brévent and Flégère are great all summer.
Put on your helmet, body armour and hold on.
Road biking
For the avid day tourer, there are numerous circular routes to be taken from Chamonix. You can retrace some of the Tour de France's routes which are every close or take it a gently, descending the valley and riding the routes along the vallée d'Arve or over to Switwerland. And there's always a train to bring you back if legs won't take anymore.
The Tour de France have not released their route yet for next year, but we're sure it will be coming very close as usual. Keep an eye on their site for news www.letour.fr
