Heli skiing

“I think everyone agreed that this was definitely the best holiday yet, the Chalet was excellent and the quality of the food the staff produced was fantastic (and original!).”

Heli Skiing

Helicopters are still the preferred mode of uphill transport for those who have the opportunity. And, here in Chamonix, we have some great heliskiing options in our extended back yard.

You can’t actually heliski in France but Chamonix’s mountains share borders with Switzerland and Italy, where the fun police have not banned the sport, so fear not – we can easily arrange a day in a whirly bird. And, despite not being able to actually land in France, you can ski down the French side of the fantastic peaks and glaciers in the area.

We have listed a couple of our favourite ‘drops’ close by:

Heli pick-up point - Val Veny, Italy
Drive time from Chamonix – 25 minutes

Stunning views of the Brenva glacier and the southern aspect of Mt Blanc. A magical day might include a drop or two on the Aiguille du Glacier then a spin into the Courmayeur lift network for some tree skiing and a fabulous lunch then back to the heli for another run on the Mt Fortine

Heli pick-up point – Finhault, Switzerland
Drive time from Chamonix – 45 minutes

The chopper would take you on to the Glacier du Tour and you would ski towards Trient. There are runs for different standards and fitness levels culminating with a choice of couloirs for the more committed.
