Travel options to Chamonix

By Air

Chamonix is only an hour’s car journey from Geneva Airport making transfers a doddle. This means our guests often ski on arrival and departure days!

Geneva is a major network hub and is served by most of the international carriers across Europe and the world.

From the UK, the most popular airlines are Easyjet, British Airways and Swiss with direct flights from all over the UK. You can fly from a staggering 21 UK airports.

On arrival we can arrange to meet you at the airport and whisk you back to Chamonix in one of our private minibuses. We also work closely with the many airport transfer providers. The different services on offer vary in price and you get what you pay for. Door to door service and flexible timings understandibly cost more. Check to see if they will wait for you if the flight is delayed. We can happily steer you to the most reliable services

The budget carriers with scheduled times and fixed collection points are great value and should be considered. However, if you are travelling with skis, kids and the boss (or mother-inlaw). Consider the ramifications if there is a delay and no one is waiting to take you to your accommodation.

Car hire is also a good option but check if the vehicle has winter tires.

By Car

Chamonix is between eight to 10 hours’ drive from most Channel ports. The motorway comes right to the town itself, with a breathtaking last 25kms. If you don’t fancy driving the full distance in a day, break your trip with a stop in Paris, Reims (for Champagne) or Beaune (for Burgundy).

Having a car is undoubtedly a bonus while you're here, giving you greater flexibility to ski different areas and even visit resorts in nearby Italy and Switzerland. Remember to make sure you've got snow chains and/or snow tyres.

By Rail

Relive the romantic railway age by arriving in the Alps on an overnight sleeper. Chamonix's train station is in the centre of town.

TGV services extend to nearby St.Gervais, from where it is a short hop on a regional service up to Chamonix. Visit www.sncf.com for more information.

From the UK check the Rail Europe web site for the Snow Train details.
